Wood Fireplaces

Wood fireplaces are a classic and timeless addition to any home. The atmosphere and warmth that come with a wood fireplace cannot be matched by any other form of heating. Huron Fireplaces provides an impressive variety of wood fireplaces for you to choose from.

Each of our wood stoves is a certified and engineered factory-built system. We take great pride in the quality of our goods, and we make certain that every fireplace we offer satisfies the highest safety and efficiency criteria. Due to their high cost and inefficiency compared to a designed insert, we do not sell traditional brick and mortar fireboxes.

Inserts, zero-clearance, and freestanding wood fireplaces are the three primary categories of wood-burning appliances.

Freestanding

A freestanding wood fireplace, often called a pedestal wood stove or just a wood stove, is a burner that stands alone and is used to heat a single room or area. A freestanding wood fireplace can be put anywhere in a room that fulfills clearance standards for adequate ventilation and safety, as opposed to an insert or zero clearance fireplace, which is designed to fit inside an already existing fireplace or framed enclosure.

There is a wide range of sizes and designs available for freestanding wood fireplaces, from those made of traditional cast iron to those made of modern steel. The flue or chimney carries smoke and other combustion byproducts outdoors, while the firebox's insulated exterior helps radiate heat into the room.

Self-contained, freestanding models can be installed in a variety of locations. They can be a primary or supplementary heating source and are available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and designs to fit any room's aesthetic preferences.

 Inserts

A wood fireplace insert is a self-contained appliance that can be retrofitted into an existing fireplace in place of the open hearth. The firebox of the insert, normally made of cast iron or steel, can be closed to keep the fire contained and maximize its efficiency.

Wood fireplace inserts are a great choice for homeowners who wish to upgrade the efficiency and heating capacity of their existing fireplace. The amount of heat provided into a home by a wood fireplace can be increased, and the amount of heat lost up the chimney can be decreased, with the installation of a wood fireplace insert.

Zero Clearance

A zero-clearance wood fireplace, sometimes referred to as a prefabricated fireplace, is a factory-built fireplace that is intended to be set directly against combustible materials such as wood, walls, or framework. Because it is insulated and made of noncombustible materials, a zero-clearance fireplace doesn't need any breathing room around it. Because of this, the fireplace may be set up in a variety of locations, including some where a conventional brick unit wouldn't fit.

The firebox in a zero-clearance wood fireplace is typically made from thick steel or cast iron and is insulated with refractory cement or ceramic to keep heat in and prevent the steel from warping. Metal, glass, and artistic materials, such as stone or tile, are sometimes used for the fireplace's façade. A zero-clearance fireplace might look like a standard open fireplace, or it can include a glass door and an air wash system to prevent soot buildup on the glass and maximize efficiency.

The Process

A trip to our showroom is the first step for most people looking to buy a wood fireplace. We'll have a chat about your fireplace needs and wants when you visit so that we can have a solid sense of what you're after. We'll also assist with determining the price range you're comfortable with so you know what to expect, in terms of cost.

When you're ready and have an idea of what you like, we'll schedule a site visit to look at your home.  During the on-site consultation, we'll examine aspects like heat flow and chimney accessibility to choose the best spot for your fireplace. We'll also review our installation procedure with you, so you know precisely what comes next.

Depending on the intricacy of the setup, the site inspection could last anywhere from twenty minutes to an hour. We take pride in our meticulous approach, which involves giving great thought to every facet of the installation.

After the site visit is over, we'll set up an installation time that works for you. Professionals on our staff will handle every aspect of getting your fireplace set up and running smoothly. We take a lot of pride in our excellent customer service and would be pleased to resolve any concerns you may have during the installation process.

The only thing left to do after the fireplace is installed is routine upkeep. Your fireplace will serve you well for many years to come if you follow the maintenance instructions, we provide you. Whether you want a wood fireplace for aesthetic purposes in your living room or as your primary source of heating, we can find you the best match!

First and foremost, we provide only the finest products available.

We are proud of the products we sell, and we know our customers will be pleased with their purchases.

We back up the excellence of our products with equally impressive service. Every one of our customers is important to us, therefore, we go the extra mile to make them feel appreciated and supported at every stage of the buying and installation process.

We only offer products in which we have full faith and confidence. As an example, air cooled chimneys can be a more budget-friendly choice. Nevertheless, because they use outside air to cool the chimney, they are susceptible to obstructions and debris buildup that could pose a fire hazard. Even if you keep a close eye on your chimney, you could miss something as basic as mud wasps constructing nests inside. This is why we don’t offer them. Your safety is our priority. We have faith in the quality of the brands we carry and are willing to put our name behind them.

Our customers can rest assured that they are making the best possible investment in their homes since we take the time to assess their individual circumstances and make suggestions based on our findings. It can be very costly to replace a fireplace in the future, so we do everything we can to ensure you are making decisions that are right for you and your home.

We are confident that anyone shopping for a wood fireplace or stove will find our products and services to be the best value.

Our extensive background in the field is an additional benefit of teaming up with us. We've been working with wood fireplaces for close to 20 years, so you can trust that we know what we're doing when it comes to installation and maintenance. For any wood fireplace project, you will be dealing directly with the owner, Nathan, as he is also a WETT-certified installer. A WETT certification is also provided, which your insurance company will need to see.

Frequently Asked Questions 🔥

  • There are numerous factors that can affect the final pricing of a wood-burning fireplace. It all depends on the fireplace's design, the veneer (the decorative work around the firebox), and the chimney's precise placement.

In our showroom, we can talk about your needs and go through some options with you that are within your price range. When prices for similar products are considered, a basic wood installation may be about the same price as a high-end gas product. Without seeing the site, we can't offer you a specific estimate, but we can give you an idea of what to expect to pay for the various possibilities. To help you make a well-informed, budget-friendly choice, we provide clear and honest pricing.

  • Safe and efficient operation of a wood burning fireplace relies on routine maintenance. If creosote builds up in the chimney, a chimney fire can break out, which is one of the greatest dangers of using a wood fireplace. This can happen if the wood is moist or is not burned at a high enough temperature.

High-quality, dry wood that has been seasoned for at least six months should be burned to prevent chimney fires and other potential risks. Also, make sure your chimney is in good working order by having a professional inspect and clean it on a regular basis to get rid of any potential buildup.

The firebox and damper of a wood fireplace should be inspected and cleaned on a regular basis, in addition to the chimney. Regular maintenance includes clearing out the firebox of ash and debris and checking the damper for leaks.

While it's true that wood fireplaces aren't completely risk-free, homeowners can take comfort in knowing that by following our expertise they can reduce their exposure to any issues significantly. Homeowners can enjoy the warmth and pleasure of a wood fireplace while reducing the danger of potential risks by choosing high-quality wood, maintaining the chimney and fireplace properly and regularly, and remaining watchful for any changes in performance.

  • Chimney cleaning is a service we offer for the fireplaces we build. However, we will likely refer you to another firm for chimney cleaning services if you approach us about a brick-and-mortar firebox or an older fireplace that we did not install. Our company is dedicated to providing each individual customer with the highest quality service possible, and our specialty is the installation and maintenance of contemporary, factory-built fireplace systems.
